Fran Carson receives South Central blood banking award

Fran Carson, Manager of Donor Centers and Apheresis with Carter BloodCare, was awarded the 2023 Bill T. Teague Cornerstone Award by the South Central Association of Blood Banks.

The honor recognizes a member for outstanding contributions to the association.

Carson was nominated by Dr. Laurie Sutor, Carter BloodCare’s Vice President of Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer, who cited Carson’s dedicated involvement and leadership.

Having previously served as treasurer, Carson continues her support as association president.

The award is named for Bill T. Teague, past president of the association and blood banking advocate.

The nonprofit South Central Association of Blood Banks covers Texas, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida and Mississippi. Members are health care workers such as nurses, physicians, donor recruiters, phlebotomists and more. Institutional members include hospitals, blood donor centers and blood testing centers.
